Shondel Collins is a fashion design alum of the International Academy of Design and Technology in San Antonio. Her training gave her a strong foundation in garment construction, design principles, and the kind of hands-on creativity that shaped a generation of local artists. The school closed years ago, but the creative community it produced continues to influence the way San Antonio approaches fashion and visual arts.
Shondel built her creative identity through styling and visual direction, developing an eye for color, silhouette, and narrative. Even when she stepped back from active styling, her artistic language stayed intact. She understands how designers develop their craft and how emerging talent benefits from structure, mentorship, and real opportunities to grow.
As an Independent Board Member with Rise SATX, Shondel brings both her education and her artistic background into the work of building a stronger creative economy in Texas. Her perspective helps guide our programs, support local designers, and honor the legacy of the school that shaped many of us. She represents the type of community leadership that keeps the city’s creative ecosystem moving forward.
